The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) seeks a database specialist for its Northwest Washington, D.C., headquarters. In order to advance the mission of TFAS, the Technology Department exists to support every other department in the organization with their technical needs. This includes Development, Programs, Accounting/Finance and the Executive team. By providing technical help, instruction, support and innovation, the Technology Department is one of the driving forces behind the success and progress of the organization.

The database specialist will report to the director of technology and will primarily be responsible for tasks related to the Development Database (Salesforce). Responsibilities will include data entry, pulling reports and lists and ensuring data integrity and cleanliness. The database specialist is also responsible for providing staff support as it relates to Salesforce. There is a lot of growth potential for this position. The ideal candidate will be innovative and ambitious. He/she will constantly seek ways to improve processes and anticipate the needs of different departments, especially Development.

This position is located in Washington, D.C., at TFAS headquarters. Candidates located in the greater D.C., area who are able to work from the office 2-3 days per week will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage best practices to ensure data integrity.
  • Generate reports as needed.
  • Support the director of technology in varied tasks, including the continued customization and refinement of Salesforce.
  • Generate all direct marketing mail and email lists and ensure proper coding for list segmentation.
  • Interface with different departments in the organization, assisting them with their technology needs.

Requirements:

  • Passion for and alignment with the mission of The Fund for American Studies.
  • Direct experience with Salesforce not needed but preferred.
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints.
  • Must be detail-oriented and receive/execute instruction well.
  • Has an obsessive desire to win; frustrated with complacency.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges, take initiative and provide solutions to achieve department and organization objectives.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
