The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) said goodbye to its longest-serving staff member Jim Klauder as he embarks on his well-deserved retirement after more than 35 years of dedication. Jim began his journey as vice president of major gifts through TFAS’s high school division, the Foundation for Teaching Economics (FTE) in 1987, long before it merged with TFAS in 2013.
Jim was instrumental in uniting these two organizations, fostering collaboration and strengthening their shared mission. He has always been a passionate advocate for introducing like-minded individuals to the legacy of TFAS, sharing insights on how our programs educate high school and college students, young professionals, and teachers to apply the economic way of thinking to national and international issues. His commitment helped build meaningful connections among those who share the values of TFAS, creating lasting bonds that will endure for years to come.
TFAS president Roger Ream ’76 reminisced on his time working with Jim noting, “It was clear that Jim’s success is due to the fact that he is not a fundraiser, but a ‘friend-raiser,'” said Ream. “He has developed deep friendships with our donors on a personal level that has enabled him to build their confidence in their support of our programs.”
As he begins this new journey, we honor his extraordinary career and the many unforgettable moments he has created along the way. TFAS sends Jim best wishes for a lifetime of happiness and exciting new adventures.
