TFAS Alumni Celebrate 50 Years of TFAS in the World’s Ancient Capital

//////////////////////

Nearly 40 TFAS alumni and friends gathered in Athens, Greece for a “Celebrating 50 Years of TFAS” alumni birthday party on April 27. This special gathering at the Athens Club was part of our 50th alumni birthday parties series, co-hosted by TFAS and alumni leaders from around the globe throughout the year.

TFAS alumni from every decade since TFAS International’s founding were represented at the gathering, including several attendees from the inaugural Greece program, the International Institute for Political and Economic Systems (IIPES), in 1996 and three incoming TFAS students who will attend the 2017 American Institute on Political and Economic Studies (AIPES) in Prague this summer.

(l.-r.) Michelle Le (IPJ 95, AIPES 96) Theo Georgiou, Themis Kossidas (IIPES 96) and Panos Lolos (IIPES 96) reconnect at the TFAS birthday party in Athens.

TFAS staff members Michelle Le (IPJ 95, AIPES 96), vice president of international and alumni programs, and Brenda Hafera, coordinator of alumni programs and continuing education, were in Athens to host the fourth annual Liberty from Locke to Hayek Curriculum of Liberty Seminar, a weekend academic discussion program co-sponsored by TFAS and Liberty Fund, Inc.

Along with Le and Hafera, this successful birthday event was hosted by long-time TFAS friends Themistoklis Georgiou and Dr. Alili Mitsalkos of The Greek Association for Atlantic & European Cooperation (GAAEC).

Alumni who attended the reunion called it an excellent opportunity to reconnect with TFAS friends and meet others who share similar passions and goals that TFAS programs teach.

Tonight reminds me of how my first TFAS experience, 12 years ago, changed my world outlook and shaped my path in becoming an international affairs professional. I am only grateful to be part of the TFAS family, which thankfully continues to grow!”
