General Rowny’s (l.) Paderewski Scholarship Fund made it possible for Joanna Stepien (A 10, B 11) to attend TFAS programs. Stepien, a student from Poland, was awarded the 2011 Jan Paderewski Scholarship.

TFAS supporter Edward L. Rowny, former ambassador and retired U.S. Army lieutenant general, has organized a concert starring Pianist John Robilette to raise money for the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Scholarship Program. Rowny established the scholarship fund in 2004 to bring Polish students to a TFAS institute each year.

The scholarship is named after the late Paderewski, a Polish pianist and composer who also served as a politician and diplomat. To date there have been eight outstanding Paderewski scholarship winners.

The Robilette concert will take place on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Embassy of Italy’s auditorium. Robilette is a classic romantic style concert pianist and a Paderewski dovetee. Prior to the concert, Rowny will discuss Paderewski’s contribution to freedom and culture and his life as a composer, pianist and statesman.

The concert is open to all and tickets range from $50 to $100 per person. For more information on the concert click here. To purchase tickets click here.
