How to Apply


Thank you for your interest in EJI. The application deadline for the 2020 program is now closed. Please check back in January 2021 for the summer 2021 application.

To apply to the European Journalism Institutes (EJI) in Prague, prospective participants must complete the online application.

Final Deadline: April 20
2020 Program Dates: July 5 – July 12

Application Requirements

Application are now open for the 2020 European Journalism Institute. Applicants are asked to submit the following documents through our online application:

  • A statement of purpose detailing your reasoning for applying to EJI and your goals you want to achieve by attending the institute;
  • A submitted or published article or project you believe is your best work;
  • Your updated Resume or CV;
  • A letter of recommendation from a professor, adviser, dean or supervisor (we prefer someone who knows you in an academic or professional capacity). You may either submit the recommendation through the online application or ask your recommender to email their letter to

Please be aware that the EJI admissions committee will only evaluate completed applications with all of the required fields. When your application is evaluated you will receive an email notification from TFAS and The Media Project with our joint decision concerning your participation.

All applicants to the European Journalism Institute should have a valid passport or other government-issued national ID (applicable to citizens of Schengen countries only). Please make sure that your passport/government-issued national ID will not expire before the end of your preferred program.

It is the responsibility of participants to determine whether they need a visa to enter the Czech Republic for the program. If you are unsure if you need a visa, please follow the links below to see which countries require a visa to enter the Czech Republic and which do not:
