TFAS Announces New International Program in Guatemala

//////////////////////

The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) is delighted to announce a new international program this summer – TFAS Guatemala!

TFAS is excited to take students to Guatemala City and Antigua for TFAS Guatemala!

Held from July 16-30, 2022, TFAS Guatemala is a two-week educational leadership program hosted in partnership with Universidad Francisco Marroquín (UFM), one of Latin America’s foremost private universities advancing the ethical, legal and overall economic principles of a society of free and responsible individuals. The first week of the program will take place on UFM’s campus in Guatemala City, and the second week will be in the historic town of Antigua.

TFAS Guatemala will expose bright young leaders from around the world to the political and economic necessities of a free society. We encourage you to nominate a university student or recent graduate who would benefit from participating!

Dr. Nikolai Wenzel teaches at many TFAS International programs, and we’re excited to have him join TFAS Guatemala!

The program’s primary academic goal is to engage students in a thorough and philosophical examination of government and economics. Dr. Nikolai Wenzel, distinguished professor of economics at Fayetteville State University and long-time TFAS professor and advocate in the freedom movement, will teach a political economy module. Students will receive course credit for the program.

In addition to classes, participants will have the opportunity to explore Guatemalan culture. TFAS will organize various excursions for students to enjoy the history, heritage and natural beauty of the Central American country.

One highlight of all TFAS International programs is the cultural presentations gathering. This exciting event allows students to showcase their countries and cultures through traditional dances, costumes, songs and cuisine. It provides a unique opportunity for students to share their traditions and learn about other cultures as well.

TFAS students enjoy sharing their heritage and traditions with their peers during the Cultural Presentations.

TFAS International programs bring students of different backgrounds together for intensive academic courses and learning that goes beyond the classroom to the dining table, tour bus and city sidewalks. Students finish TFAS International programs with an expanded network of global contacts; an understanding of individual freedom, human achievement and personal responsibility; and an international experience to advance their educational and professional development.
