Economist Art Laffer Headlines TFAS Leadership Summit in Colorado Springs

On Nov. 9-10, 105 TFAS supporters, alumni and faculty members gathered for a leadership summit at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo. The event was both a working meeting, designed to help TFAS develop new and improved strategies for cultivating future leaders, and an educational event featuring a lineup of distinguished speakers.

Opening remarks were delivered by Fox News Channel contributor Michelle Malkin. Malkin’s talk was entitled, “Implications of the 2012 Presidential Election.” The keynote remarks were given by economist Dr. Art Laffer, known throughout the freedom movement as “The Father of Supply-Side Economics.” Laffer gave a “Post-Election Outlook for the U.S. Economy.”

The event was also attended by the 2012 TFAS Freedom Scholars. The Freedom Scholars are a prestigious group of some of the most promising recent alumni of TFAS programs, selected to participate in a rigorous, year-long academic experience. As part of that experience, the Freedom Scholars joined TFAS supporters at the summit in Colorado, attending academic seminars and lectures, as well as speaking to donors about their experiences.

Our next conference will be taking place in the Washington, D.C. area from June 20 -22, 2013, providing TFAS supporters with an exciting opportunity to meet even more of our students and participate in events with them. The conference will also feature a trip to Charlottesville, Va. and Thomas Jefferson’s historic home, Monticello.
