TFAS Trustee And Alumnus Mark Stansberry (ICPES 76) Launches New Book At TFAS Headquarters

On July 19, TFAS alumni, staff and students celebrated the launch of a new book written by trustee and alumnus Mark A. Stansberry (ICPES 76). The breakfast event featured a discussion with Stansberry followed by a book signing. All 40 attendees were treated to complimentary copies of the book entitled America Needs America’s Energy: Creating Together the People’s Energy Plan.

The TFAS event was the first stop for Stansberry on a national book tour that included Atlanta, the University of California, Los Angeles, Pepperdine University, Kansas City, Denver and Cheyenne, Wyo.

“Thirty-six years ago, as a student at TFAS, this would have been only a dream, but at TFAS dreams come true. And a dream did come true on July 19 at my book signing event,” said Stansberry. “It was at this event that I officially announced my new book.”

Stansberry’s book is dedicated to the proposition that the country is in need of an energy revolution, and the leaders of this revolution should be everyday people. According to Stansberry, total energy independence can be achieved by turning to new technologies, innovation and the enduring American spirit.

With more than 35 years of direct experience in the energy industry, Stansberry has become a respected industry expert and media commentator on energy issues. He is the founder and chairman of The GTD Group and chairman of People to People International, a Kansas City-based nonprofit organization that promotes world peace through cultural education and understanding.

Additionally, Stansberry founded the International Energy Policy Conference in 1992. This year’s conference marks the 20th anniversary of the annual event, and Stansberry has offered to waive the registration fee for anyone associated with TFAS as long as there is availability. The event will take place on Oct. 25-27 in Oklahoma City and on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. For more information go to: www.energypolicyconference.com.

As an active member of the TFAS Board of Trustees, Stansberry is passionate about TFAS and a staple at its conferences and events both in Washington and across the country. “Most TFAS students have gone on to achieve success in their professions as citizens, as parents and in other roles. TFAS is making a difference, and I’m glad to be a part of that experience,” said Stansberry. “TFAS has an outstanding leader and staff that continue to embrace the TFAS family throughout a TFAS student’s lifetime.”
