Serbian Alumni Fund AIPES Students Travel Costs

//////////////////////

In the spirit of the TFAS Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service (IPVS), various alumni chapters around the world have started service projects of their own with area alumni.

These service projects, which celebrate 10 years of IPVS, can be of any nature: alumni are encouraged to go to their local food bank, help out at Habitat for Humanity or even raise money for a specific cause.

Raising money is just what the Serbia Alumni Chapter chose to do for its service project.

The group of alumni was able to collect money to fund the travel of four Serbian students to go to Prague to attend AIPES this summer. These students otherwise may not have been able to participate in the program in Prague without the help of the alumni.

We decided to do this because this year, the students did not get any help from the U.S. Embassy and other resources because of the current financial crisis.  I am very proud of our members; especially those who are still students without jobs who also contributed. Hopefully this will become a tradition for our chapter!”  – chapter president Andrijana Vojnovic (IIPES 06).
