Clint Bolick came to The Fund for American Studies in 1978 and promptly discovered that he did not want to work in politics.
“There is a lot of compromising that goes on for things that are not entirely noble,” Bolick said.
His internship, with then-freshman Senator Orrin Hatch, whom Clint holds in high regard, placed him at the center of activity that summer, as Hatch filibustered the National Labor Reform Act, known as the Humphrey-Hawkins bill.
After graduating from Drew University and the Hastings Law School at the University of California-Davis, Bolick held numerous positions at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under the direction of current Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas.
From there, Bolick moved to the Department of Justice – Civil Rights Division, where he spent several years. In 1991, Bolick co-founded the Institute for Justice, a public interest law firm dedicated to pursuing “cutting-edge litigation in the courts of law and in the court of public opinion on behalf of individuals whose most basic rights are denied by the State.”
Bolick currently serves as general counsel and president of the Alliance for School Choice, an organization dedicated to improving educational opportunities for children by increasing private-sector opportunities. Since the organization’s founding, the Alliance has helped to implement or expand 19 school choice programs in various cities around the country.
In June of this year, Bolick will leave the Alliance for School Choice to launch the GoldwaterCenter for Constitutional Litigation in Phoenix, Arizona and to serve as counsel to the Rose Law Group in Scottsdale.
