Featured Supporter: Anna Senn

Years ago, William F. Buckley, Jr. published an article suggesting that young people need to be taught about democracy and the principles of limited government, or else the unique freedoms Americans take for granted would fade away. When Anna Senn read this, she was astounded by the idea that democracy needed to be taught, and wasn’t inherently learned as a citizen of the United States.

“At the time I thought the idea of having to teach democracy to Americans was the most ridiculous idea I had ever heard of, but the thought stayed in my mind and has popped up again and again.”

Years later when Senn received a brochure from The Fund promoting those very same ideas, she knew TFAS was on the right track.

Senn became a devoted and active supporter of The Fund and respects The Fund’s dedication to defending liberty in these critical times.

“I am sure the staff at TFAS must feel sometimes that the battle to hold on to our Constitution is being lost, but I think more and more people are waking up to the dangers.”

As The Fund works to expand and reach even more students, Senn remains in awe of how much just a few knowledgeable people can accomplish. She appreciates how The Fund has expanded not only in this country, but abroad as well.

“Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing if we really could bring peace to the world through individual freedoms and responsibility instead of a welfare state and power in the hands of a few?”

Senn believes this hope will be a reality; if not in her lifetime, then in the life of TFAS students.

As a native of Bishopville, SC, Senn spent most of her life in Greensboro, NC. As a housewife and mother of three during a time when women were not supposed to work outside the home, Senn became involved in volunteering from the PTA to non-profit boards. At the age of 84, Senn remains an active volunteer serving as the President of the Residents’ Association of Well-Spring, the upscale retirement village where she has lived for 11 years.

Senn has three children and four grandchildren. She enjoys gardening, playing bridge, and when she has the time, partaking in programs and classes offered at Well-Spring.
