Barbara Wainscott Makes Lasting Impact Through Legacy Gift to TFAS

//////////////////////

Longtime TFAS supporter Barbara Simmons Wainscott passed away on April 13, 2018.  Her legacy continues through a generous bequest to TFAS. Mrs. Wainscott, 71, was a graduate of Mary Baldwin University. After college she worked in the Nixon White House and on the Bicentennial Commission in 1976 that was chaired by Senator John Warner of Virginia.

Wainscott was a supporter of TFAS since 2005 and visited our student programs in Washington, D.C. and Prague. She lived in New York City and previously lived in Palm Beach, Florida.

Her interests included theater, public policy and travel. She was also involved in thoroughbred breeding and racing in the United Kingdom, and enjoyed watching her horses race at Royal Ascot. She was a supporter of charities including the Richard Nixon Foundation and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

“All of us at TFAS will miss Barbara,” said TFAS Vice President for Development Ed Turner. “She was charming and witty, and had a true philanthropic spirit and love of country. We always enjoyed having her at TFAS events. Through her generous bequest, she will help TFAS engage and energize young leaders to advance the cause of liberty.”

TFAS has a goal of $5 million in planned gifts as part of the 50th Anniversary Liberty + Leadership Campaign.  For more information about how you can include TFAS in your estate, please contact Ed Turner at eturner@TFAS.org or 202-986-0384, or visit www.TFAS.org/Legacy.
