The Collegiate Programs department of The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) is seeking a full-time program coordinator for the International Affairs Academic Internship Program for undergraduate students and the Summer Law Fellowship for first- and second-year law students. This position will work with the program director to manage both programs.
These summer programs combine academic courses for credit, internship placements, guest lectures and opportunities for participants to network with Washington, D.C., professionals. Responsibilities include handling all aspects of planning and implementing the program as well as outreach to potential internship sites, applicants and recruitment partnerships.
Job Objectives
- Manage high quality academic internship programs that meet class size, budgetary, and educational goals.
- Ensure a high-level of student satisfaction.
Program Management
- Assist in the planning and logistics for all aspects of program events and activities. This position will be responsible for inviting speakers, organizing career-focused discussions, site briefings with policy leaders and legal professionals, and professional development sessions.
- Coordinate details for academic classes and assist in planning the program calendar.
- Develop and implement a networking plan for target internship sites in the fields of international affairs and law.
- Assist director with the internship placement process, including scheduling student consultation calls and working with students on resume and cover letter updates.
- Plan special events such as briefings at government agencies, visits to embassies, cultural tours and social activities.
Outreach & Admissions
- Coordinate student recruitment initiatives, including attending career fairs and other relevant student conferences (e.g. Model United Nations), conducting school visits, updating and maintaining in-house databases, and researching new recruitment partners.
- Support admissions process, including applicant outreach, replying to general inquiries, reviewing applications and tracking enrollment.

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required and past internship experience in the fields of economics, law, political science or international affairs is preferred. The ideal candidate will have project-management experience, strong communication and organizational skills. Additionally, candidates should have an interest in working with college students and in educational programming, as well as a commitment to ideas of limited government/free-market economy. Salary based on qualifications.
