Gerard Baker, Renowned Journalist, Joins TFAS as Media Fellow

The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) and its Center for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) are thrilled to announce that Gerard Baker, Editor-at-Large of The Wall Street Journal, has been named as TFAS Media Fellow.

Baker, a seasoned journalist with over three decades of experience, will bring his expertise and insights to TFAS as he works to mentor and inspire the next generation of journalists. In his role as Media Fellow, Baker will serve as a keynote speaker at various events across the country, speaking to TFAS supporters, students and journalists. Baker’s speaking engagements will advance a core tenet of the TFAS mission: developing a new generation of journalists that practice objectivity, maintain high ethical standards, and display a solid understanding of free-market economic principles in their work. Baker will continue his role as Editor-at-Large of The Wall Street Journal.

“We are honored to have Gerard Baker join TFAS as the Media Fellow,” said Roger Ream, TFAS President. “His extensive experience and commitment to excellence in journalism will undoubtedly make a significant impact on our students and the broader media landscape.”

As the Media Fellow, Baker will also collaborate with TFAS’s Center for Excellence in Journalism to advance its mission of promoting objectivity and fairness in journalism. TFAS remains dedicated to nurturing young journalists and supporting campus publications, fostering a more diverse and balanced media ecosystem.

Gerard Baker is the Editor-at-Large of The Wall Street Journal, where he writes a weekly column and hosts a podcast, both titled “Free Expression.” He has previously served as Editor-in-Chief of The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones. Baker has worked for several prestigious news organizations throughout his career, including The Financial Times, The Times of London, and the BBC.
