Seventy-five years ago, Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt met in Casablanca, Morocco, to finalize the Allied strategy that defeated the Axis powers. During that age of uncertainty, Churchill stepped onto the world stage as a voice of courage and statesmanship, and his influence and leadership remain relevant around the world today.

Thomas Poussard, Debbie Lawrence, Tom Lawrence, Joanna and Andres Loucopoulos and Bob Pruger gather for a photo on Easter Island during a 2018 TFAS trip to South America.

On this unique trip, delve into Churchill’s role as a war leader and peacetime politician in London. Develop a more nuanced view of this larger-than-life character in his role as both statesman and artist in Morocco as you experience the desert landscape that Churchill first saw in 1935 on a painting holiday. As you take in the crisp blue skies, brilliant sunsets and rich cultural experiences in Casablanca and Marrakech, you will more fully appreciate Churchill’s true artistic talent and come to understand how painting sustained him through hard times.

For 15 years, The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) has been gathering its supporters for educational trips related to its mission of advancing freedom around the world.

Giovanna Cugnasca, a participant of last year’s trip to South America, said TFAS trip are all about exploring and learning about a different culture with like-minded individuals, while “clearing your mind and filling your heart.”

“Normally, I don’t travel with groups, but when TFAS announced a trip itinerary filled with amazing places and accommodations I couldn’t resist,” Cugnasca said. “Chile was a memorable experience with a great group of travelers. You can count me in for the next trip.”
