In order to advance the mission of The Fund for American Studies, the development office exists to build and cultivate strong relationships with supporters by partnering with them to achieve their philanthropic interests with the goal of increasing support for TFAS’s work to educate students in free-market economics, the ideals of liberty and honorable leadership.The database manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the CRM database for TFAS, working to ensure data integrity and proper segmentation and usage. The position is also responsible for providing staff support as it relates to the CRM database, as well as coordinating training and education for all staff required to utilize the CRM database. The ideal candidate will be innovative and entrepreneurial. He/she will constantly seek ways to do things better and understand the needs of a development office and supports our goal to create exceptional experiences for TFAS donors in order to increase their connection to, and investment in, our work. This position is located in Washington, D.C., at TFAS Headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage best practices to ensure data integrity
  • Oversee imports of new records
  • Generate reports as needed as well as fulfill regularly scheduled reports
  • Serve as contact with Raiser’s Edge tech support
  • Complete complex query building
  • Complete database generated board reports on a quarterly basis
  • Support the chief development officer through creation and management of monthly tracking reports
  • Monthly reconciling of gift entry tracked in database with account software
  • Generate all direct marketing mail and email lists, and ensure proper coding for list segmentation
  • Conduct staff training

Requirements

  • Passion for and alignment with the mission of The Fund for American Studies
  • Minimum of two years of experience in database management (relevant internships may be considered experience)
  • Candidate should have experience using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, and ideally be experienced in using RE NXT
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints
  • An obsessive desire to win; you are frustrated with complacency
  • Ability to anticipate challenges, take initiative and provide solutions to achieve department and organization objectives
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
