The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) wrapped up another successful year of its Future of Freedom Luncheon Forum. Since its launch in 2023, the forum has brought together emerging leaders in the conservative and libertarian movements each month to discuss advancing the principles of freedom and the Western rule-of-law tradition.
Building on its inaugural year, the series has continued to serve as a place where young professionals from a wide range of backgrounds across the broader liberty movement come together to exchange ideas and find common ground around shared principles. Participants represented a variety of organizations across the broader liberty movement, including the Daily Mail, the American Enterprise Institute, Reason, Americans for Tax Reform, National Review and ClearPath.
In partnership with Advancing American Freedom and led by TFAS Senior Scholar Dr. Donald Devine, the initiative provides a space for thoughtful discussion, professional networking and collaboration among the next generation of courageous leaders.
Victoria Holmes ’24, ’25 a multimedia producer at The Dispatch, shared how the series has helped her expand her professional network and engage with new ideas.
“I have enjoyed attending the TFAS luncheons as part of growing my professional network in D.C.,” Holmes said. “Through this series, I’ve met many rising stars in the conservative movement. It’s also been a great way to keep up with emerging ideas, competing perspectives and historical and academic writings that I may have missed in school. Where else would I be pushed to read about Alexis de Tocqueville in relation to modern immigration?”
This year’s forum featured an extensive lineup of guest speakers, including:

- Michael Sobolik, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute
- Sarah Isgur, editor of SCOTUSblog and senior editor at The Dispatch
- Ben Storey, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute
- Matthew Spalding, dean of the Van Andel School of Government at Hillsdale College
- Samuel Gregg, president and Friedrich Hayek Chair in Economics and Economic History at the American Institute for Economic Research
- Brad Birzer, history professor and Russell Amos Kirk Chair in American Studies at Hillsdale College
- Sam Goldman, TFAS professor and associate professor of humanities at the University of Florida’s Hamilton School of Classical and Civic Education.
Topics included “Revitalizing the Case for Free Enterprise,” “What is Liberal Education for?” and “How to fix a Congress in Crisis,” among others.
Made possible by the John William Pope Foundation’s Future of Freedom Initiative grant, the series aims to refresh, rebuild and revitalize American conservatism.
