TFAS Alumna Mary Elizabeth Taylor Plays Key Role in Confirmation Hearings of Judge Neil Gorsuch

//////////////////////

If you have been following the confirmation hearings of U.S. Supreme Court Justice nominee Neil Gorsuch, you may have caught a glimpse of TFAS alumna Mary Elizabeth Taylor (IBGA 10). Taylor, who could often be seen over Gorsuch’s shoulder, is part of the team helping to navigate the judge through his confirmation process.

An accomplished alumna, Taylor previously served as an aide to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and worked in the Senate Republican Cloakroom. She got her start in Washington as an undergraduate student in our Institute for Business and Government Affairs (IBGA). As a TFAS student, Taylor interned with Koch Industries while taking courses on public policy and economics and attending lectures and professional development seminars aimed at encouraging responsible and engaged leadership.

In 2012, Taylor was selected as a TFAS Public Policy Fellow. The year-long networking and education program for TFAS alumni is designed to develop young leaders with a shared commitment to improving public policy. As a fellow, Taylor participated in academic discussions and professional skill-building sessions.

It is encouraging to see TFAS alumni playing such a prominent role at highest levels of government. Mary Elizabeth is proof that TFAS is changing the world one student at a time.” – TFAS President Roger Ream (ICPES 1976)

Taylor is one of 16,000 TFAS alumni who are making a difference in their communities and throughout the world by upholding the values essential to the preservation and success of a free society.
