The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) is pleased to announce that Daniel Hannan, Lord of Kingsclere, will serve as the organization’s America 250 Visiting Fellow in 2026. As the America 250 Visiting Fellow, Lord Hannan will speak to audiences on behalf of TFAS across the U.S. throughout 2026, including the TFAS 2026 Regional Conferences, to provide his unique perspective on the importance of the American Founding and how we as a nation teach the American Experiment, in commemoration of the nation’s semiquincentennial. Lord Hannan will also speak on college campuses and to other young audiences throughout the U.S.

Lord Daniel Hannan of Kingsclere is a member of the U.K. House of Lords and the President of the Institute for Free Trade. An author and columnist, he serves as International Secretary of the Conservative Party and teaches at the University of Buckingham and the University of Francisco Marroquín. He has written nine books, including the New York Times bestseller “Inventing Freedom: How the English-Speaking Peoples Made the Modern World.” He sat as a Conservative Member of the European Parliament for 21 years and was a founder of Vote Leave. He is a regular columnist for, among others, The Sunday Telegraph, The Washington Examiner and The Daily Mail.

Lord Hannan will deliver the evening keynote address during the 2026 TFAS Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., on March 11-12, 2026. The conference, titled Developing Courageous Citizens: Revitalizing Civic Education and America’s Founding Values, will highlight the historic moment afforded by the U.S. semiquincentennial to reset the conversation around how we as a nation teach the American Founding. Notable speakers will examine the genius and importance of our nation’s founding documents, draw comparisons to recent political history and introduce new educational programs designed to explore the philosophical underpinnings of America’s constitutional order.

Throughout the year, Hannan will headline the TFAS 2026 Regional Conferences around the country. Continuing the theme, Developing Courageous Citizens, the series will focus on the state of civic education and ways to re-engage students and faculty in learning America’s Founding principles. The half-day forums will bring our community together to celebrate America’s 250th birthday and showcase how TFAS programs can build a pipeline of courageous citizens.
