Below is an overview of TFAS Summer Law Fellowship admissions deadlines, instructions and policies.
In addition to the online application, supplemental materials must be sent via mail or email using the contact information below. Summer Law Fellowship applicants must submit an official transcript. Please view the application checklist below for detailed instructions.
Please keep in mind that your application will not be passed on to the Admissions Committee for review until all of the required materials have been received.

Eligibility
All law students over the age of 18 in good standing from an ABA-accredited law school are eligible to apply to the Summer Law Fellowship.
Selection Criteria
Competitive candidates will have a strong academic record with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrated interest in the principles of originalism, limited government and free enterprise, and commitment to honorable leadership and the values essential to the preservation and success of a free society.
Overview of Fellowship Benefits
Students selected to participate in the TFAS Summer Law Fellowship are required to take the two courses on Constitutional Originalism and Law & Economics. Students will earn 2 credits from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School upon the successful completion of the coursework.
Optional furnished housing is provided on the campus of George Washington University in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Click here for more details on housing.
Fellows who wish to optout of TFAS-provided housing must notify TFAS staff by April 1. Those who opt out of housing will receive a $1,200 housing stipend at the start of the program.
The TFAS Summer Law Fellowship covers tuition for the coursework and housing for the duration of the program. It does not include transportation or commuting costs, food, entertainment or other personal expenses while in D.C. A $400 program fee is due upon enrollment. Below is an estimate of living costs that you will need to budget for separately if selected to participate in the program.
Summer Law Fellowship Estimated Living Costs
(actual costs may vary and are not covered by the Fellowship):
Program Fee: $400 (due upon enrollment)
Food: $1,500 (depending on personal preferences) / Meal plans are available for purchase via GWU in the amount of $550 – $1100
Personal Expenses: $900 (entertainment, travel to/from internship etc.)
Transportation to Washington: Based on distance to Washington and type of travel

All participants must view and sign The Fund for American Studies program policies upon enrollment. This includes the Attendance Agreement that is included in the online enrollment form as well as a code of conduct agreement upon their arrival.
