The evening also honors the life and legacy of Joseph Rago, a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal, who died last year at the age of 34. Paul Gigot, editorial page editor of the Journal, will deliver remarks on Joe’s contributions to journalism.

In memory of Joe, the Rago family and The Fund for American Studies have established the Joseph Rago Memorial Fellowship for Excellence in Journalism. The program’s inaugural fellow will be introduced at the dinner.

For a quarter-century, the Robert Novak Journalism Fellowship Program has fostered the leaders of the next generation of journalism. Alumni include reporters and editors at the nation’s top publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and National Review, as well as the editors-in-chief of The Weekly Standard and Reason magazine – Steve Hayes and Katherine Mangu-Ward. We hope you will join us on Sept. 27 for a celebration of what we’ve achieved – and the even greater things still to come.
